1. not turning on your burglar alarm when only going out for a few minutes. It only takes a couple minutes to get a window open and get your stuff

2. Never post a detailed alarm company sign. A Sign that says secured by brings home security gives a burglar important information on how your home is probably wired and how to bypass a particular security type system. A better idea is to use one of those more generic signs. These give no information to burglars
